Due to the swift action of the Protea Coin Group Security Officers, a suspect was arrested after breaking into a Bryanston home on 13 February 2010.
Officers K Phuravhathu and P Ramoloto was on duty, patrolling the area, when an alarm was activated. It was discovered that the owner of the house was not present at that time and Protea Coin Group Armed Reaction vehicles were dispatched to the address immediately. On arrival, the armed reaction officers noticed a suspect at the main gate of the premises. He had 2 plasma TV’s in his possession. A second suspect was busy at the front door of the house.
"As soon as the suspects noticed the armed reaction officers, they dropped the stolen goods and started running and jumping over fences," Mr Riaan Fourie (General Manager – Sandton Branch) said. Other armed reaction vehicles confirmed to Pharavhatu & Romoloto that the suspects have jumped over two fences and are now fleeing in a silver Mercedes Benz C Class.
Protea Coin Group officers tracked them to a premises in Chesterfield, where the suspects were apprehended and returned to the crime scene where the SAPS took them into custody. An investigation by the SAPS is now in progress.
