Tracking and Fleet Monitoring

The Protea Coin Group has at their disposal, their own unique tracking system. This is not only a tracking system but also a full fleet and time management system. This system can be deployed anywhere is South Africa, while Protea Coin monitors the movement from the 24 hour control room, on a real time basis.

Protea Coin currently deploys units with built in panic buttons on all high risk and reaction vehicles, which relays all incidents to the appropriate stakeholders, within seconds. The position of the vehicle is updated to the control room from anything ranging between 30 seconds to 12 hours, depending on the customer’s need or the situation.

The system has the capability to forward intelligent text messages to remote cell phones providing up-to-date information without having to be constantly monitored. The remote functionality also allows remote users to perform certain task while being away from the control room.

Areas of Interest

Customised areas can be created and uploaded to each unit

Preferred - Will report if the vehicle exits the area

Each vehicle has its own assigned preferred area, indicated on the map and allocated to the specific vehicle. Should the vehicle at any stage exit or exceed the boundaries of this preferred area the alarm at the control room will immediately be activated, flashing a “No go area” signal with all the detail, position and stage of the specific vehicle. The moment the alarm is activated, the tracking monitoring automatically goes into High Update Mode (stage red monitoring) and enjoys a high tracking rank. As mentioned earlier in this document, should the manager choose to receive text messages on his cell phone regarding all e.g. panics or No-Go zones, a message will be send to his cell phone with all the mentioned detail.

No-Go - Will report if the vehicle enters the area

The No-Go Area works on the same principal as the preferred area with the only difference being should you prefer not to allocate a preferred area; you should only indicate No-Go areas. The vehicle can travel anywhere but the moment it moves into an area marked as No-Go, the system will signal a No-Go alarm.

Notification - Will report when the vehicle enters or exits the area

Alarms also activates in the following incidents

Speeding and Speed Violation
Harsh Braking
Excess Idling
Battery disconnected

History of all alarms is kept automatically on a database format for later reference and statistical reasons.

Status Routing

Setup text messages that will be sent to personal cell phones upon receipt of prescribed status’s from assigned vehicles
Status routing keeps you informed of what is happening with your vehicles without having to be in front of the computer
The descriptive position engine is used to convert the useless longitude & latitude numbers into a meaningful message

Remote Command Messages

Various instruction messages can be remotely sent to the control room from your personal phone
Last Message Received
Poll Vehicle
Last Position Received
Activate/Deactivate Immobiliser
Set Odometer
Message Forwarding Activation

Points of Interest

Places that have meaning to the user can be added to the system
The places are used in the descriptive position engine and are displayed with customised pictures on the maps

Reports

Reports on each vehicle could be printed/e-mailed regarding the following:
Map
Trip
Trip Summary
Status Occurrence
Stoppage

Recovery process

Potential recovery alarms are reported in real-time, shortening the time before the recovery service is informed
The exact location of the vehicle at the time of the alarm is known, focusing the recovery’s search area
The vehicle may continue to report, providing up to date positions for the recovery service to work on
Text messages providing latest vehicle information can be sent to operatives in the field
The vehicle can be installed with a governor or immobiliser that can be activated from the control room
Units not reporting on its regular reporting time period can generate an alarm, making the operator aware of a potential recovery situation and increasing the potential for full recovery
Historical data can be replayed providing additional information that can aid in the recovery process and prosecution of the guilty parties
